Heiner Nonnenbroich

  Heiner Nennenbroich is one of the newer generation of German carvers. By training he is a musician and in 2000 when a friend showed him a gorgeous Joura he was inspired to begin pipe making. He studied the basics in the workshop of Klaus Hahn, a well known pipe maker in the Duisburg area in Northern Germany near the Dutch border. Heiner as a musician knows that perfection is a goal that is never truly attainable. He take the same approach to pipe making. It can always be better.

 After two years he felt confident enough to begin offer his pipes to German retailers. Recently has has been getting guidance from the German master - Rainer Barbi. He favors quarter and half bent shapes.

Simple and clear shapes characterize his pipes which he brings to perfection in a permanent and successful effort to attain a clearly defined statement. He grows within himself. And this characterizes the creative man. Whoever follows his own path consistently, is called to higher things. A true interpret of the new German design." (Rainer Barbi)

 All his pipe pass the pipe cleaner test and his stems are hand made from quality German ebonite rods. He makes the the bits with a thickness of between 3.5 - 3.7 mm, he feels that it a good compromise between solidity and comfort.

 Grades start with D, CB, A, AA, AA, both D & AAA are very rare. His production is less than 100 pipe a year, most of which are sold in Germany. Pipes2smoke is very pleased to be able offer them to the discriminating smoker.
